The centre for Study of Society and Secularism has for main goal to fight against communal violences in South Asia and try to redefine the concept of secularism for a more cohesive society.

The Centre for Study of Society and Secularism has been created in May 1993 and is directed by Ali Asghar Engineer.
Facing the growing communalism menaces and hatred due to fundamentalism and fascist forces, the Centre for Study of Society and Secularism have actions to fight against that scaring arise of violences and try to bring Peace to society by inter-faith dialogue.
The aim and the objectives of the Centre are to spread the spirit of Secularism and social peace and to make research on issues linked to Communalism and Secularism as well as to organise inter-faith and ethnic dialogue.
The Centre for Study of Society and Secularism organize seminars, workshops, publish books and have more concrete actions like youth camps. Social activists, academics and scholars are part of the Centre.

The Institute of Islamic studies
The institute of Islamic studies is part of the Center of Study of Society and Secularism and has been founded in 1980, just after the Iran revolution by Ali Asghar Engineer who is still the director.
The aim of the institute is to rethink issues in Islam knowing that the Islamic world is in a turmoil. The idea is to promote Islamic values of justice, equality, peace, compassion, human dignity, freedom of conscience, inter-faith understanding and wisdom through writings, publications, seminars and intellectual events where leaders of different communities are present. The Institute publishes several books and research papers.
